Dwight Howard on Shaquille O'Neal Reigniting Feud, 'Do We Need to Throw Hands?'

Shaquille O'Neal is one of the most prolific centers that basketball has ever seen, along with being one of the biggest stars the Los Angeles Lakers had. Though his career ended long ago, O'Neal is not shy about relaying his former prowess on the court.

This confidence might be seen as arrogance, and it was gotten under the skin of one particular person: Dwight Howard. Howard also played for the Lakers between the 2012-13, 2019-20, and 2022-22 seasons. He also won his lone title with Los Angeles at that time.

Howard has taken umbrage with a recent O'Neal claim, going so far as to say the pair should "throw hands." The Big Lead reported on the reignited feud, which got heated when Howard addressed O'Neal directly.

"Do we need to throw hands?"

"I hated the most is the fact that he always thought I was trying to be him or be like him," Howard said. "But again, if I wanted to be you or be like him, shouldn't you take that as a compliment and to show how great you are as a player and a person? All right, Shaq, I just never disrespected. ...But he's always had something to say and you know there are times where I got enough and I'm like, yo Shaq just gotta stop."

Howard also alludes to wanting to get in touch with O'Neal, due to a person he was working with also having a personal relationship with the former Lakers center. Howard then goes on to state that the pair would potentially need to fight one another to clear the air on their feud.

"Do you mind sending Shaq a message, you know to try and figure out what's up? Can we have a sit-down conversation, cause every conversation or every time I see something about you, it's you disrespecting me on some type of level. And at this point, do we need to throw hands?"

O'Neal naturally responded to Howard stating the pair should get into a fight due to the "disrespect" he feels.

@DwightHoward the fact u think I care about u is funny, but I won’t ever bring your name up again sensitive big man, a jokester that can’t take a joke. Won’t ever say your name again ever again. Have a great day and now u have been deleted. Have a great day. #inevercared #trustme…

There is likely more that will come of this, regardless of O'Neal stating that he won't mention Howard.
