Eamonn Holmes receives endless support after emotional Christmas post about loss

Presenter Eamonn Holmes was flooded with support after he shared an emotional post about 'Christmas wishes'.

The former This Morning presenter took to his Instagram page last night (18 Dec) to share a photo of him and his mother. In the snap, he has his arm around her as she pats his arm. He captioned the heartbreaking post: "When folk ask me 'What do u want for Christmas?' 3 Christmases without u now Mum and u r still top of my wish list ."

His late mum, Josie, died aged 93 in November 2022. After sharing the post, fans rushed to the comment section to share their experiences of loss and posted their support. One user wrote: "Sending so much love," while another added: "Me too… just keep remembering those special memories and keep them close to your heart. Happy Christmas Eamonn and a very Happy 2025."

"Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas," one lovely fan said and another user commented: "She is with you all the time, stay strong [arm flexing emoji] it is just another day." One of his 791,000 followers wrote: "Thinking of you. Losing someone is hardest this time of year."

It comes after Eamonn extended an olive branch to his estranged wife Ruth Langsford after the Loose Women star's mother landed in hospital after suffering a nasty fall. The 93-year-old has remained in hospital after fracturing her pelvis. Ruth shared the news with her followers on Instagram sharing a snap of a photo of mum Joan's clasped hands and their half-finished crossword as she offered an update.

Ruth captioned the worrying picture: "Hospital visit....thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum. She'll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she's in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she'll be home for Christmas."

After nearly half a year of silence post-separation, Eamonn, 65, who is now in a new relationship and rumoured to be planning a wedding with his new younger partner, joined thousands of others in liking his ex's Instagram update. Stars like Cat Deeley and Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha joined Eamonn in wishing his former mother-in-law a quick recovery.

Former This Morning presenter Eamonn and Ruth shocked their fans when they announced their plans to divorce in May this year and have since parted ways.
