EastEnders left fans gobsmacked when Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) falsely fessed up to murdering Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), despite having nothing to do with the crime.
The Six drama kicked up a notch on October 31 in spooky Walford, as Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) had no choice but to let her toxic ex, Nish, back into the family home. After Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) confessed that Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) was the one who bumped off Keanu, Nish managed to slither back into Suki's life.
Not only that, but he sussed out it was Denise Fox (Diane Parish) who hit him over the head with a bottle and used the gossip to twist Suki's arm into cosying up again. As the pair tried to have a 'romantic' dinner on Halloween, Suki couldn't face it and darted off to The Minute Mart to grab a bottle of wine.
That's where Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) stumbled upon a distraught Suki and dished out a stark warning: steer clear of her nasty ex. Suki, feigning confidence, insisted she had things under control before heading back for that supposed cosy dinner with Nish.
But once inside, Nish flipped and made moves to assault Suki until Stacey burst through the door, backed up by grandkids Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) and Avani (Aaliyah James), reports the Manchester Evening News.
With the teenagers looking scared at their grandad's antics, Nish tried to fob it off as "just an argument", only for brave Avani to stand up to him and drop the bombshell that Suki's love was long dead.
Nish was on the brink of tears as he made his exit from the house, demanding that The Six, including Suki, Stacey, Sharon, Linda, Kathy and Denise Fox (Diane Parish), rendezvous with him at The Queen Vic. At the pub, Nish pressed for the gruesome details about Keanu's demise while cop car sirens wailed in the distance.
Moments later, Nish told DCI Arthurs (Ian Burfield) that it was his associates that fatally stabbed the mechanic with a meat thermometer and claimed he had planted the murder weapon at Dean Wicks' (Matt Di Angelo) flat.
Witnessed by Suki, Nish insisted that, as a dying man, he wanted to do the right thing – and she soon texted The Six that their ordeal was over.
As the police carted Nish off, he begged Suki to ditch her plans to wed Eve Unwin (Heather Peace). Meanwhile, outside The Queen Vic, Suki watched the fireworks with Nish, the display lighting up the sky in the signature hues of each member of The Six.
But some EastEnders fans reckon The Six are not out of the woods yet, given Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) knows the truth about her brother's fate.
A fan posted to X: "Why are people saying it's the end of the six storyline lol? Far from it loool. Bernie's coming back and the rest of the square are yet to find out the truth lol #Eastenders." Another viewer commented: "I hate Nish but I love him so much. He really took the blame. I know it's not over with Bernie coming back so it's gonna be interesting what happens next."
A third agreed, writing: "People saying it's over like we don't have Bernie to worry about. # EastEnders."
While one fan tweeted: "Honestly, quite a fitting 'end' to the six storyline. but they've still got Bernie to deal with #eastenders", while another posted: "Omg I just realised, Nish is gone, but about Bernie? #EastEnders."
Another fan warned: "Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I wouldn't say that the Six storyline is over. There's still the matter of Bernie. She's gonna make her return in a week or two - and I don't think she's done with the Six yet #EastEnders".
