Eva Amurri recalls ‘almond mom’ Susan Sarandon’s strict diet rules growing up: I thought Cheerios were ‘junk food’

Susan Sarandon’s daughter, Eva Amurri, claimed her mom was so strict about food growing up that she thought Cheerios were “junk food.”

“My mom was a tried and true ‘almond mom,'” Amurri told SheKnows in an interview for their 2024 holiday digital issue.

“She actually used to walk down to the Village to the only organic grocery store that existed in New York City in the early ’80s and would get everything there.”

“My mom thought Cheerios [were] a junk food — that is how almond mom she was,” Amurri went on.

In fact, Sarandon is still into health food now and sends Amurri’s kids “disgusting cereal” they won’t eat.

“I had to stop being nice about it,” the influencer admitted.

Amurri, 39, shares three children — Marlowe Mae, 10, Major James, 8, and Mateo Antoni, 4 — with her ex-husband, Kyle Martin.

Amurri, who wed chef Ian Hock in June, told SheKnows that she’s raising her children to have a healthier relationship with food and even admitted they eat McDonald’s about once a week.

“My 4-year-old will eat half of an ice cream, and he’ll be like, ‘I think I’m done,’ you know?” she explained. “He won’t eat past what he wants, I think because I’m just so nonchalant about it.”
