There's no denying the fact that horseshoe jeans are causing quite a stir. Only a few weeks ago I was raving about a pair of Abercrombie & Fitch horseshoe jeans I unashamedly have in every colour, and now, Marks & Spencer has released its own iteration of the trending style. The horseshoe style - otherwise referred to as barrel or balloon jean - while somewhat unconventional, boast a voluminous tapered leg that's relaxed yet structured, and abundantly cool. The M&S Mid Rise Relaxed Horseshoe Jeans, £39.50 are the perfect pair for those who want to experiment with a silhouette different to a straight-leg or skinny and, naturally, they're also already a huge hit with the fashion crowd. In a market overpopulated with straight-leg and mom jeans, the horseshoe shape offers a fresh touch that feels oddly nostalgic, and elegant. So, after the love affair I had with my Abercrombie pair, the moment I saw these horseshoe jeans hanging in my local M&S - I knew I had to try them on.
Available in three different lengths; short, regular and long, I opted for a short and the length fit perfectly. I'm 5'4, and M&S is always a win for petite women due to its variety of sizes. I adore the slightly androgynous look of the relaxed jeans, oversized shape and loose fit, as I prefer my jeans to fit more oversized than tight. For styling, I'd choose to lean into 80's shapes and pair with something slightly tighter, like a sleek roll-neck jumper, or for evening dressing swap in a lace cami or bodysuit.
