One of the actresses who has had a meteoric rise in the film industry is British actress Florence Pugh, who stars in We Live in Time and will return as Yelena Belova in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts in 2025.
But despite her successful professional career, the Briton's health has been compromised by news that could affect her plans to become a mother with her current partner, actor Finn Cole.
A diagnosis no one expected
In an interview with Dear Media's SHE MD podcast, Pugh revealed that she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis, which led her to freeze her eggs to avoid complications.
"I had this sudden feeling that I should check myself. I had had some strange dreams, I think my body was warning me."
Pugh pointed out that her family's genetics have not presented any problems with endometriosis, even though both her mother and grandmother have had children at an advanced age.
The Briton noted that she had symptoms of PCOS such as acne and hair growth in unusual places, which characterize these conditions, however, the actress considered that they were not a sign of apparent danger.
"My mother had children in her forties, my grandmother had children for years. And then, of course, I got completely different information: that at 27 I needed to extract my eggs quickly."
Pugh called on all women to have constant check-ups, especially those who want to be mothers, so that they avoid putting their health and lives at risk.
