Tom Brady was reportedly caught off guard by the news that his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, is expecting a child with her boyfriend, Joaquim Valente.
The news of Bundchen's pregnancy surfaced recently, with reports indicating that she is around five or six months along. Bundchen began dating Valente, her jiu-jitsu trainer, in mid-2023, and the couple is planning a home birth early next year.
They have decided to wait until the birth to learn the baby's sex.
A source close to Page Six shared that Brady hadn't anticipated this development, though after the initial surprise, he has come to accept it and feels genuinely pleased for Bundchen.
"Tom knew that things were serious between Gisele and Joaquin but he never imagined they would be having a child together," the insider noted.
"It just wasn't something that was on his radar. So when Gisele broke the news to him he was stunned, to say the least.
"At the end of the day, Tom's sole focus is on his children and his career. What Gisele decides to do with her own life is really none of his business."
Bundchen shared the news with Brady and their kids
Bundchen reportedly told Brady and their children, Benjamin and Vivian before the news became public. Brady only found out about the pregnancy days before the announcement.
This marks a significant new phase for the family, coming two years after Bundchen and Brady, who were married for over a decade, finalized their divorce.
Brady, who was married to Bundchen from 2009 until their split, also has an older son, Jack, 17, from his previous relationship with Bridget Moynahan.
