Golden Retriever, German Shepherd's Spaghetti Eating Competition Goes Viral

19 hours ago 2

A golden retriever and a German shepherd challenged each other to a spaghetti eating competition, and the results have left users across the internet in hysterics.

Footage of the competition shared on TikTok earlier in January under the username @anna.animals, shows the two dogs sitting at the dinner table waiting for their owner's cue to start eating.

While the German shepherd is politely holding back, his opponent can't wait to tuck in, to the point that his owner has to physically stop him from grabbing the unseasoned spaghetti before the contest even started.

On the count of three, the golden retriever inhales the entire pasta portion, as the German shepherd watches the scene in disbelief while chewing his small bites of food like a gentleman.

Dogs are known for their enthusiasm when it comes to food, but some breeds have a much bigger appetite than others, that's why should be extra careful to never leave plates unattended in their presence.

These breeds include the Labrador retriever, which has an insatiable appetite and spends its day begging for extra snacks, the beagle, the dachshund, the basset hound, and the golden retriever, among others.

Overeating can be dangerous for dogs, exposing them to a higher risk of obesity, which can cause disease like diabetes. How much a pup should eat depends on factors including age, size, and activity levels.

If you're unsure about what your dog's portions should look like, a veterinarian can help you figure out how to best meet your pup's needs. Feeding them a commercial dog food diet is usually advised.

While dogs can eat some human foods, like unseasoned pasta, as shown in the clip, some of our staples can be extremely toxic to them. These foods include chocolate, grapes, garlic, onions, cinnamon and almonds, among others.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 4.7 million views and 125,400 likes on the platform.

One user, Rozida, commented: "Golden retriever is like a vacuum cleaner. GSD is a gentleman."

Bart Osz wrote: "Eating competition is pointless if golden or Labrador is involved..."

Jules@JaBFurnitureRehab added: "I have two goldens, I knew the winner before you even plated it."

Traybo wrote: "Lol no surprised at that. The German shepherd ate so politely."
