Good Morning Britain's Laura Tobin told 'go to hospital' after Dr Hilary warning

1 month ago 9

Good Morning Britain's weather presenter, Laura Tobin, has shared how her co-star Dr Hiliary Jones identified that she was going into premature labour.

Laura welcomed her first child, Charlotte, in 2017, but unexpectedly went into labour at just 27 weeks. It was her ITV colleague, Dr Hilary, who recognised the symptoms and advised her to seek medical attention.

Recounting the 'funny story' on Laura Hamilton's Mile Fly Club podcast, Laura explained how she woke up with stomach pains one morning, dismissing them as Braxton Hicks, also known as false labour pains. However, it turned out to be the real deal.

The 43 year old told the podcast: "I went to work and Charlotte Hawkins was like: 'They're just Braxton Hicks. I really wouldn't worry about it."

"Then Debbie in wardrobe knew something wasn't right and she phoned Dr Hilary and described everything. And he said: 'It sounds like she's going to have the baby.'", reports Wales Online.

"I didn't think I was having the baby, I just thought I was having Braxton Hicks. I was really chilled."

Laura revealed that Dr Hilary, who had experienced premature twins at 27 weeks himself, was certain his colleague was about to give birth.

He persuaded the weather presenter to get examined at St Thomas's Hospital, conveniently located near the Good Morning Britain studios in central London.

Laura was under the impression she would be back soon to present her weather segment - but her colleagues were aware of the real situation.

She revealed: "Everyone kept me really calm, they didn't want to stress me out. It wasn't busy, I think I might have been the only person in the ward."

Her mates at work were well aware that baby time was close. She recalled: "They (her colleagues) all knew the baby was about to come. The midwife came in and said: 'These babies decide when they want to come, and yours wants to come today.'".

Chalking it up to nippers having their own timetable, she shared: "It didn't freak me out. Then Charlotte was born that afternoon."

Charlotte is the one and only kiddo for Laura with her hubby Dean Brown, who she wed back in 2010. On the Mile Fly podcast, she spilt the beans about how both of them approach parenting dear little Charlotte a tad differently because the tot was such a premature arrival.
