Chris Brown angered fans at the Grammy Award

Chris Brown nabbed his second Grammy after 20 years, sparking dismay among fans due to his past guilty plea to felony assault.

He won Best R&B Album for his work on 'B11:11', outshining Muni Long's 'Public Displays of Affection', Lucky Daye's 'Candydrip', Usher's 'My Way' and Lalah Hathaway's self-titled album.

Despite Brown's triumphant posts on social media, where he celebrated by writing "WE DID IT! ! ! ! ! ! !", his Instagram story was met with less enthusiasm from the public.

"Ew," a fan posted on Bluesky, a sentiment that many echoed in their reactions. Another user expressed disapproval, saying: "Ew. You hate to see Chris Brown winning anything."

And a third questioned the existence of cancel culture, commenting: "No way Chris Brown just won a Grammy in 2025...... never tell me cancel culture is a real thing when that man still has a career."

Despite three nominations at this year's Grammys, Brown only secured the one trophy. He had previously won in the same category for his album 'FA.M.E.' at the 54th Grammy Awards.

Brown has been a figure of controversy since pleading guilty to assaulting former girlfriend, the Barbados-born pop sensation Rihanna, in 2009, leading to five years of probation and community service. His legal struggles continued with a hit-and-run allegation pausing his probation in 2013, an assault charge the same year, rehab violations, and subsequent jail time.

Following this, Brown underwent counselling for domestic violence and anger management. He also tried rehab again, which led to diagnoses of various mental health issues, reports the Mirror US.

In 2015, Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin officially closed the Rihanna case. However, fans struggled to move on.

Instead, they showed their support for Rihanna, who has since taken a step back from the music scene. "Chris Brown you are so disgusting and everyone who supports him is no better," a fan commented.

They continued: "Had to unfollow someone on ig the other day bc they posted a chris brown thirst trap. i still can't believe he even has a platform or people that sympathize w him."

On X (formerly Twitter), a fan expressed their outrage: "chris brown winning a grammy should be a sign to get rid of the entire academy or whoever the f--- votes cause WHYYYY."
