Grant Ellis Dating History: ‘Bachelor’ Had Girlfriend for 7 Years

3 days ago 1

The new “Bachelor” Grant Ellis is hoping to find love, and he’s already shown he’s able to embrace commitment.

According to Swooon, Ellis previously dated an ex-girlfriend for seven years. The outlet says that Ellis and the ex-girlfriend dated throughout his 20s and broke up a year before he became a contestant on “The Bachelorette,” a show his mom signed him up for.

“We were pretty strong, but people ultimately grow apart,” Ellis said of that relationship on The Viall Files podcast.

Of starring as the lead of “The Bachelor,” Ellis said to the Los Angeles Times, “My experience has been great. It’s been a whirlwind — a lot of emotion, a lot of decision-making. But overall, it’s been great. I have no complaints.” The Times described Ellis as a “former pro basketball player and current day trader.”

Here’s what you need to know about Ellis’s dating history:

Ellis told Swooon that the failed relationship taught him things.

“Just [have] communication, that’s the main thing,” he told Swooon.

“When you feel a certain type of way about somebody, you say it, and you mean it. That’s the main thing. Just be strong with how you feel and no regrets. I feel like that’s the main thing I took away from my last relationship. Things happen for a reason.”

The identity of Ellis’s ex-girlfriend has not been revealed. Ellis started posting on Instagram in August 2024, and none of his posts features his former girlfriend.

Ellis explained why he think he and his previous girlfriend didn’t make it.

“The trajectory of what I was trying to do and where I was trying to go with my life and my goals and visions, it just ended up creating a rift in the relationship, and then we agreed to separate,” he said on Nick Viall’s podcast.

He added, “It was a lesson in my life, and although it was painful, a lot of times the most painful experiences you grow from.” He said he “learned emotional intelligence, I learned how to really treat somebody, how to put somebody’s needs first, and how not to be selfish in a relationship.”

Ellis, of course, also courted Jenn Tran on her season of “The Bachelorette,” but he was cut before the hometown dates.
