Gregg Wallace's past denial of betraying wife before MasterChef complaints

5 days ago 7

Gregg Wallace previously hit back at claims he betrayed his wife amid his complaints scandal.

The MasterChef presenter, 60, is facing allegations that he acted in a "sexualised" manner across multiple shows spanning over 17 years. The star has since stepped back from hosting the BBC hit cooking show whilst investigations are taking place.

However, this is not the first set of allegations that Gregg has faced this year as back in October he was hit with other claims of sexual misconduct. At the time, he was brought into an investigation that took place on the set of gameshow Impossible Celebrities, which had been previously examined back in 2018.

The alleged incident made headlines when the claims were made at the time, but in recent weeks had resurfaced with Gregg at the centre of the drama. However, keen to clear his name, he took to his Instagram profile to share an impassioned video declaring his innocence.

Gregg said he never did or said anything sexual that would betray wife Anna

"The story that's hitting the newspapers this morning was investigated promptly when it happened six years ago by the BBC," he said in the clip. "And the outcome of that was that I hadn't said anything sexual; I'll need to repeat this again - I didn't say anything sexual."

However, fans were not fully impressed with Gregg's response and believed that he may have been unfaithful to his wife Anna during the filming of the show. This left Gregg furious, releasing a second video to clear up the situation.

"Despite what the newspapers are suggesting nobody six years ago accused me of flirting with anybody or hitting on anybody," he insisted. "And the reason I say this is because of my wife Anna.

"I have always been true to my wife Anna and have never flirted or hit on anybody in the 12 years that I met her and fell in love with her," the Inside the Factory star said. "And it's important that, so that people don't misunderstand that, that I am true to my wife."

In a statement released at the time, a spokesperson for the BBC said: "Whilst we do not comment on individuals, if issues are raised they are dealt with swiftly and appropriately at the time. We do not tolerate any form of inappropriate behaviour and have robust processes in place."

Thirteen people have come forward with allegations against Gregg

A total of 13 different complaints have been lodged against Gregg, many of which relate to "sexualised" behaviour on the set of the shows he presents. In one instance, he is believed to have simulated one act on a production staff member as they bent down to clean a scuff on his trousers.

Other incidents include disclosing to a junior staff member that he was not wearing any boxers under his jeans, as well as walking on the set of a show with just a sock on his privates. Gregg has not fully addressed the allegations since they dropped earlier this week, but thanked those who had reached out, saying: "That's very good of you."

Meanwhile, his lawyer has said "it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature".
