The late Dave Myers' pal and colleague Si King has opened up about working on a one-off documentary about him.
Dave passed away, aged 66, in February, less than two years after he shared his cancer diagnosis. His life is set to be celebrated in the BBC documentary the Hairy Bikers: You'll Never Ride Alone, which is set to be broadcast next week.
The special will follow the 45,000 bikers who joined Si, 58, on a memorial journey from London to Dave's hometown of Barrow-in-Furness back in June. The event - known as Dave's Day - is said to mark Si's last time as a Hairy Biker. Si spoke about why he found the documentary important in an interview with the Sun. He said: "It was important to celebrate the man and what he'd achieved and it was also important to give our audience a goodbye as well."
He described Dave Day, which was organised by the late chef's wife Lili Myers and one of his friends, as the "perfect example". Si then went on to pay tribute to his pal Dave, whom he had first met more than two decades ago. Speaking to the outlet, Si said: "We're all so sorry that we're here in these circumstances but it was a celebration of that show. There's lots of joy in that show but that was Dave." He added that Dave was a "joyous man" who "embraced" and "loved" the life that he led.

The upcoming documentary was announced in October by the BBC. At the time, Si teased about the upcoming project: "It was a very special show to pull together. Full of nostalgia, laughs and celebration of my best friend and his life."
He has also shared his pride over the documentary, which he described as a "tribute" to Dave. Si once said: "I'm incredibly proud of the programme because it's a tribute to my best mate. [Dave Day] just felt so celebratory of Dave's life. It's not often I’m lost for words but that day I seemed to be.
"I just couldn’t believe the scale of the event and I think for the motorcycle community it was an opportunity to show their affection for Dave and the Bikers and that was on a mass scale. And those who weren't in the motorcycle fraternity who lined the route was a remarkable collective, emotional tsunami of kindness and love and affection. For us to all come together as a community, it just felt like there was sense of belonging. It was a beautiful day."
The Hairy Bikers: You'll Never Ride Alone will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer from 9pm on Monday.
