A video of a dog visiting the neighbor's house hopeful for a playdate with her "best friend" broke people's hearts as she received the unfortunate news her bestie was on vacation.
In last week's TikTok video by user @queendreamr, Langley, a musician who goes by one name, saw the home's typical visitor waiting outside her door: the neighbor's dog, Maple, who was fostered and adopted through Los Angeles dog rescue Mutt Scouts. Maple is no stranger to the house, visiting every day, Langley told Newsweek. But whenever she visits, it's only to see her roommate's dog, Poppy.
This time, however, Langley broke the news to Maple that her "best friend" wasn't home. Poppy and her owner were on vacation. That didn't deter Maple. She needed to double-check that Langley wasn't lying.
In the clip, Langley opened the door and Maple came right in, sniffing out every room. Once she realized her friend wasn't around, Maple stayed for some quality time with Langley. The dog hopped right up onto the couch like she owned the place. Then, Langley offered her a treat, which she happily accepted before heading back home.
Langley told Newsweek that Maple and Poppy's friendship started thanks to their owners, Michelle and Annette who have been neighbors for about 20 years. All the dogs they've fostered throughout that time have hung out and bonded.
"I moved here last year, and there was a bit of a trio with Maple, Poppy and a third pup named Lalo," Langley said. "Lalo, unfortunately, passed away about a month ago, so Maple and Poppy have been spending way more time together now that it's just the two of them."
Thankfully, Maple didn't have to wait much longer before Poppy returned. Langley posted a video yesterday showing their reunion. The nonstop tail wagging showed how the two missed each other while they were apart.
