Dwyane Wade threw his wife, Gabrielle Union, a surprise 52nd birthday party at Miami hot spot Casadonna just hours before he was honored by the Miami Heat on Sunday.
“Even though the weekend was about Dwyane, he still found a way to celebrate his queen,” an insider exclusively tells Page Six of Union, who will turn 52 on Oct. 29.
We’re told Union was totally shocked when she saw 40 of her closest friends and family waiting to celebrate her in the restaurant’s patio bar.
“Gabrielle was completely surprised when she walked in to find 40 friends and family ready to celebrate her right before her husband was about to have one of the biggest moments of his life,” the source said, adding that the couple “laughed with friends throughout the brunch.”
The group dined inside a private room of the trendy establishment and Union was treated to a big birthday cake. We hear all five of Wade’s children were also present for the festivities.
“Dwyane stayed as long as he could and then headed to the arena,” the insider said.
Wade, 42, raced to Kaseya Center where his former NBA team unveiled an 8-foot statue of him to honor his stellar basketball career.
The former shooting guard spent the majority of his 16-year pro-ball career playing for the Heat — winning three NBA championships and earning the NBA All-Star title 13 times. He is also the city’s all-time leader in points, games played, assists, steals, shots made and shots taken.
Union was by her husband’s side during the tribute ceremony. She also accompanied Wade to the James Bond-themed party honoring him on Friday night ahead of the unveiling.
We’re told the invitation-only fête, titled “003 Statues are Forever,” took place at Queen Miami Beach and featured culinary delights and Don Julia 1942 cocktails.
Wade and Union arrived in an Aston Martin DBX707 and the guest of honor wore a black-and-white FWRD tuxedo.
The “Cube” host gave a toast by raising a glass of Armand De Brignac Champagne after making his entrance to the “James Bond” theme song.

“This is the beginning of a ‘statues are forever’ weekend. What we’re about to embark on is something we’ve never experienced before. If you’ve got a glass, raise it,” Wade told the crowd.
Wade’s close friend and former teammate, Udonis Haslem, also gave a toast, calling him one of “the biggest and baddest legends.”
Performers throughout the evening included Trina, Dj Khaled, Ball Greezy, JT Money and Uncle Luke.
“[Union and Wade] were bumping and grinding on the dance floor with each other throughout the night,” a partygoer tells us.
“The two were seen also dancing with friends and family and kissing throughout the night.”
Other notable guests included his former Miami Heat teammates Faith Haslem, Alonzo Mourning, Norris Cole, Dorrell Wright, businessman Wayne Boich, TV personality Rocsi Diaz, stylist Jason Bolden and more.
