Alien Ant Farm

The band released a statement on social media

Pop punk rock band Alien Ant Farm has sensationally accused the leader of a fellow rock act of punching their lead singer.

The iconic American group - whose hits include Movies and a storming cover version of the Michael Jackson song Smooth Criminal - are currently on tour. They had been on the road with fellow rock band CKY - but it seems friendships between the two acts spectacularly imploded over the weekend.

Taking to social media on Saturday, Alien Ant Farm issued a statement claiming CKY guitarist Chad I Ginsburg had punched their lead singer, Dryden Mitchell. The group announced they had thrown CKY out of their tour plans and shared details of the alleged altercation.

In a written statement, the group claimed: "Sadly, Chad from CKY hasn’t figured out how to cohabitate with others after all these years. They will no longer be on the Alien Ant Farm Tour through the rest of the UK shows after Chad punched me in the face earlier today."

The allegations, written by Dryden, continued: "I’ve watched him treat multiple crew members and opening band members like trash through the Europe shows and cause general drama around our camp. Before the last Europe shows I went to Chad and asked if he had any issues with anyone specifically and if he wanted to have a meeting with the whole crew and bands to discuss what’s going on, he up ended the table in the dressing room and threw his phone, and then cancelled their show."

Addressing the alleged fight, the singer went on: "Well he punched me in the face and pretty much ran away like I imagine he’ll do for all of his future problems. I’m grateful for my sobriety and grateful that I didn’t retaliate physically in any way whatsoever.

"I would love these shows to continue and apologise to all the CKY fans for Chad’s behaviour. We have zero hard feelings for Jess and Elvis in CKY and are gutted to see them go, but I will never knowingly put myself in volatile situations so this had to end."

In a scathing closing statement, the message added: "Stay safe everybody. And Chad, Go To The Gym… After That, Find A Therapist, And Maybe In 25 Years… We Can Shake Hands. Until Then Though…. GET HELP, Love Dryden."

The Mirror have contacted representative of CKY and Chad for comment.

Alien Ant Farm's statement provoked a flood of responses from fans, with one writing: "Wow. So sorry that happened. Sending good vibes to you all." Others thanked the group for pressing on with their tour - which took in Margate in the south of England over the weekend. One fan commented: "Had a great night in Margate last night @alienantfarmofficial - thanks for coming all the way to the south east of england to play for us."
