As we near the end of 2024, TV and streaming platforms are ramping things up with the launch of some epic new films and shows. November is shaping up to be a packed month, with new titles from some of the hottest franchises and several returning favourites.

This month welcomes the latest instalment in the Dune franchise, documentaries celebrating some of the biggest names in music and film, plus the latest big screen offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). All of this comes from the likes of Disney+, Netflix, Amazon’s Prime Video, Sky and Apple TV+, all of which are available with a raft of money-saving deals.

Disney+ now starts at £4.99 a month, while Netflix is free with Sky’s TV bundles. Telly fans can try Prime Video free for 30 days, while Apple TV+ can be enjoyed with a seven-day free trial.

Day of the Jackal

Eddie Redmayne fronts this new thriller based on the classic 1971 book by Frederick Forsyth. It centres around an unrivalled and highly elusive lone assassin known as the Jackal (Redmayne), who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee.

But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch) who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Marvel’s epic blockbuster is finally here, and it has huge ramifications for the future of the MCU. The film finds Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) with his past as the morally flexible Deadpool behind him, until he suddenly finds himself in a fight for the survival of his home world and must suit-up again – and convince a reluctant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to help him.

Bad Sisters: Season two

Sharon Horgan’s black comedy returns to follow the lives of the Garvey sisters, Eva (Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene) and Becka (Eve Hewson). Two years after the ‘accidental death’ of Grace’s abusive husband, the close-knit sisters may have moved on, but when past truths resurface, the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight, suspicions are at an all-time high, lies are told, secrets revealed and the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust.

Starring Black Adam’s Aldis Hodge, this new crime thriller follows Alex Cross, a decorated Washington D.C. homicide detective and forensic psychologist who faces a sadistic serial killer leaving a string of bodies strewn around the city. As Alex and his partner track this killer, a mysterious threat from Cross’ past appears, aiming to destroy what he’s done to keep his grieving family, career, and life together.

Silo: Season two

This hit sci-fi drama tells the story of the last ten thousand people on Earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who try to find out face fatal consequences.

Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.

Dune: Prophecy

This new six-part series serves as a prequel to Dune, set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides. Inspired by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson’s novel Sisterhood of Dune, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.

Cruel Intentions

This new adaptation of the hit 90s film follows the elite students of Manchester College, where reputation means everything, fraternities and sororities are the gold standard and two ruthless step-siblings – Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Belmont (Zac Burgess) – will do anything to stay on top of the cutthroat social hierarchy. After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Greek Life system, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputation – even if that means seducing Annie Grover (Savannah Lee Smith), the daughter of the Vice President of the US.

The Piano Lesson

In this adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, a battle is brewing in the Charles household. At the centre stands a prized heirloom piano tearing two siblings apart.

On one side, a brother (John David Washington) plans to build the family fortune by selling it. On the other, a sister (Danielle Deadwyler) will go to any lengths to hold onto the sole vestige of the family’s heritage.

Their uncle (Samuel L. Jackson) tries to mediate, but even he can’t hold back the ghosts of the past.
