I'm A Celeb: Tulisa Contostavlos is eliminated from the show

Fans of I'm A Celeb were outraged and criticised the 'snub' of Tulisa Contostavlos, calling it "criminal," after the singer was eliminated just one day before a jungle treat that featured a karaoke night.

Viewers felt cheated out of the opportunity to see the former N-Dubz star perform one last time, especially since she hadn’t released music in years.

In last night's episode, the campmates were treated to a special moment - a return of the long-standing tradition of visiting the pub Jungle Arms, where the celebrities took part in karaoke. Furious fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to vent their frustration over ITV’s decision to eliminate Tulisa before the spectacle.

One user wrote: "It's actually criminal that we missed out on Tulisa singing at the Jungle Arms." Whilst another added: "It’s karaoke night and Tulisa isn’t here to perform this iconic song, we were robbed so bad," sharing a clip of Tulisa performing Ouch with her former band, N-Dubz. A third user, reposting the famous meme of Homer Simpson retreating into a bush, tweeted: "Ant and Dec hiding from #Unpacked in case someone brings up Tulisa."

This follows Tulisa’s announcement that she plans to leave music and showbiz for good. The star will step away from the spotlight in the next two years and intends to use the money she’s made on I’m A Celebrity to invest in the property business. She says that nowadays, she enjoys a quieter life and hopes to earn a living outside of music and television.

In comments likely to shock some fans, Tulisa said: "The music industry is wild, it is ridiculous. I'm through most of it. I'll be out in two years from now. I'm going to property next year. I think I'll always come back for N Dubz. But I think the person I've become, I'm a public figure that doesn't really like being in the public eye." Speaking to Fearne Cotton just days before she headed out to Australia, Tulisa went on to explain her long term dreams away from then music and TV spotlight.

On the Happy Place podcast, she added: "I'm going into property. I am actually going to build some themed rentals. So I'm like, a super fantasy geek, all things like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones. And I've always wanted to get into the property game. But I was also like, there's some parts of it that can be a little bit mundane.

The singer has explained why she deleted her social posts

"And I was like, 'How can I do this but also be really passionate about what I'm doing. So why don't I incorporate, you know, something that I'm super passionate about?'.

"So instead of just like building houses, let's build themed places that I can rent out. So yeah, at the minute I'm looking for land, I want it to all be very kind of like a nature reserve, you know, cabins in a forest, Hobbit houses. So, yeah, that's my, my plan for 2024. I'm absolutely buzzing."

Fans also speculated about Tulisa's disappearance after she didn't appear on the spin-off show Unpacked. Additionally, she was absent from the daily gathering in the foyer of the JW Marriott Hotel on the Gold Coast, which is filmed by ITV and typically attended by evicted celebrities and their loved ones. She later deleted all of the I'm A Celebrity content on her Instagram page.

The star has since taken to Instagram to "clear some things up" and explained that she felt "overwhelmed" by the attention.

She told her followers: "Hey guys, I'm just doing a little video to clear a few things up. When I first came out of the jungle, I felt fine first of all and then that evening, my friends went to bed and I was on my Instagram, just trying to have a casual scroll at some funny stuff. I was getting a lot of attention, a lot of bombarding - in all the most positive way, but because it's been a bit of a while for me, I can get overwhelmed quite easily and I just started to feel a little bit overwhelmed. And I was like, do you know what? I need to just take a little bit of time for me and just chill. This is all just feeling a bit much at the moment.

"I'm just going to archive all my stuff to do with the jungle and then, when the time is right and I've had time to process, I'm going to make my own reels of my best bits that I really like. Because remember, I haven't been doing my Instagrams. The way it's being posted and all the random stuff is not how I would do my Insta - I would have one or two really good reels relating to the jungle and bringing my time together there.

But I just really wanted to clear up the reasons why that I did that. So it's OK to feel a little bit overwhelmed. I've been out of the spotlight for a long time and I'm still trying to overcome those things, I've got my demons. It doesn't mean I'm going to hide behind a rock for another ten years it just means I need a little bit of time to process it and get right with my thoughts. I just want to thank ITV and I'm A Celeb for being really understanding. Mental health is really important and I am super grateful for the love and support that I've received."
