ITV's 'smart' move sets 'impressive' I'm A Celeb cast apart from past series

1 week ago 2

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here's 2024 cast is unique for one very particular reason.

Speaking on behalf of Betfred Lotto, Celebrity PR Specialist Kayley Cornelius told Daily Star: “ITV has pulled together an impressive lineup of big names for this year’s series, which is sure to attract a huge audience. What truly sets this year’s cast apart, though, is its appeal across all generations."

"With rising stars like GK Barry popular among Gen Z, plus the shock factor of Coleen Rooney and Tulisa Contostavlos, millions will tune in just for them. And of course, there are the fan favourites, like Corrie’s Alan Halsall, Strictly’s Oti Mabuse, and Loose Women’s Jane Moore."

Cornelius explained that in the future, it will be vital for ITV to keep getting celebs on board from all walks of life, from soaps to social media and everything in between: “Looking ahead, it’ll be crucial for ITV to continue casting a wide range of talent from all walks of fame to keep viewers engaged.”

The PR specialist praised the channel for this year's cast, who will no doubt appeal to a wider audience: “It’s a smart move by ITV to draw in support from this new wave of celebrities."

"Not only does it show that broadcasters are staying on-trend and open to cultural shifts, but it’s a strategic response to the ongoing battle of losing Gen Z and younger viewers to YouTube and streaming platforms." This year's series starts on Sunday [17 November] and excited celebs have already been spotted Down Under as they prepare to enter the jungle.

GK Barry, known for her social media presence and Saving Grace podcast, confessed that she is "terrified of everything" and definitely won't be taking on the role of the cook: "Not the chef! I think I will be someone who will try cheer people up if they are missing home and bring a few one liners."

Co-star Coleen Rooney also spoke about her phobias and admitted: "I don't think I have got any phobias. Then again, I could say, ‘Oh I’m not scared of heights and then get up on a high building and the panic sets in!"

"I’m a mum, but I’d like to think my role will be a team player. I am organised so maybe that will be part of my role too."
