Jaime King fired back at her ex-husband, Kyle Newman’s, claims she was “slurring” and appeared “strung out” while their sons were in her care, In Touch can exclusively report.
As In Touch first reported, Kyle, 48, filed a petition for a restraining order and sole custody of their sons on October 23 in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The actress’ lawyer, Diana D. Hagopian, tells In Touch, “Mr. Newman’s [previous] ex parte requests have been denied in their entirety by the court.”
“The allegations against Jaime are entirely false and intended to cause her harm and garner damaging media attention,” Diana said in regard to Kyle’s claims in the restraining order.
Diana said, “It is unfortunate that Mr. Newman continues to utilize the court in attempt to continue … the filing of unfounded malicious claims and to use the children as weapons and pawns without regard to their privacy.”
She ended, “Jaime is intent and solely focused on a peaceful and harmonious coparenting process and her utmost priority is the happiness, health, and well-being of their children.”
A hearing has been scheduled for November 18 on Kyle’s request for a restraining order.
Kyle’s lawyer, Garry Gekht, tells In Touch, “Kyle’s only wish is that Jaime finally gets the help she needs to that she can be a safe, healthy and appropriate parent to the parties’ children, and again asks for privacy, both from the media and from Jaime and her new attorney, for the sake of the children who continue to be in his exclusive care and remain his sole focus.”
Kyle and Jaime, 45, wed in 2007 and finalized their divorce in 2023.
The exes share two sons: James Knight and Leo Thames.
In his restraining order petition, Kyle proposed that Jaime have supervised visitation. He also asked that she submit to drug and alcohol testing.
He wrote, “The children are currently in danger when in their mother’s care. Jaime King is suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and is emotionally abusing and neglecting our children; placing them in danger and exposing them to many disturbing people and situations, including sexual content.
The children are begging me to help rescue them from the chaos in their mother’s home.”
In his filing, Kyle claimed that he received a call from his sons on October 17 begging for him to come pick them up at Jaime’s home.
“I arrived [at] Jaime’s house around 7:45 a.m. I knocked on the door and was greeted by the boys. I went inside and I saw Jaime sitting on her knees on the floor, wearing a navy blue and white varsity, her hair was in pigtails and she appeared to not be wearing any pants (or maybe had short shorts on). There were two men there.”
Kyle said, “Jaime looked distressed, strung out and was acting drunk. She gestured for me to come over to her because she tried to get up but could not stand. Jaime was slurring her words and said, ‘Those are bad boys.’ We have to do something about our boys. Their behavior is not right.” In his filing, Kyle claimed the actress had a history of “severe drug and alcohol abuse and has had a major relapse endangering the safety and well-being of our children in her custodial care.”
Kyle added, “Jaime loves our children and we want her to get help — I am, however, unable to force her to get help and cannot allow our children to be in a constant state of danger and abuse as a result of Jaime’s addiction issues.”
