Jake Paul found fame causing a stir on YouTube

From once hosting on the Disney channel to now going head-to-head with one of boxing's best, Jake Paul's career has taken him on a wild journey.

The American YouTube sensation, 27, is stepping into the ring with former heavyweight champion of the world Mike Tyson, 58, tonight. The Mike Tyson v Jake Paul fight is anticipated to be one of the most-watched fights in history - and it's unsurprising with both of their backgrounds.

Jake was one of the most famous social media stars in his teen years. He created short skits on Vine and then transitioned to YouTube, where he posted vlogs, pranks and music videos. He quickly became one of the platform's biggest creators - and the most controversial.

Jake was dubbed the 'world's worst neighbour' when he moved to LA and turned his tranquil neighbourhood into what locals would call a 'living hell'. He racked up noise complaints with his non-stop parties, setting fire to his furniture and encouraging his fans - known as 'Paulers' - to swarm the area.

The YouTuber, who got a stint on Disney channel presenting his own show Bizaardvark, would taunt his neighbours with laughing emojis online and show off about his chaotic behaviour - until he eventually was given the sack by the child-friendly broadcaster in 2017.

Then 'The Problem Child', as he calls himself, faced a string of more serious allegations. He was accused of sexual assault by TikTok star Justine Paradise in 2019, which he denied. Jake said her claims that he forced her to perform oral sex on him and touched her inappropriately without consent were "100 percent false".

Shortly after, model Railey Lollie claimed he groped her when she was underage in 2017. His legal team put out a statement that read Jake had "every intention of aggressively disproving it and pursuing legal action against those responsible for the defamation of his character".

During the Arizona riots in May 2020, Jake faced looting charges, which were later dropped. Later that year, his LA mansion was raided by the FBI in a highly-publicised investigation to allegedly collect firearms. No federal charges were filed. It came after he made headlines for hosting a massive house party during Covid.

As he transitioned from YouTube to boxing, Jake was accused of multiple schemes, including a crypto case that allegedly cost fans millions in losses. He also sparked backlash with his 'roadmap' to becoming an influencer - which allegedly had a broken website - and his 'MysteryBrand' campaign, which reportedly had no prizes.

In 2018, Jake fought his first amateur boxing match against fellow YouTuber KSI's brother Deji Olatunji, and they went on to have a professional rematch. Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn then put Jake in the ring against YouTuber AnEsonGib in 2020. Next, Jake proudly started up his promotions business, Most Valuable Promotions.

Now a promoter and boxer, Jake is stepping into the ring against Tyson with a lot to lose - but a whole lot to win. Should he beat Tyson, fans can expect the social media star to immediately call out Canelo Alvarez for a cruiseweight world title fight. He also has his sights set firmly on the MMA cage.
