Jane Seymour took a moment to reflect on the recent wildfires in Malibu, California, where she lives.
Seymour appeared in Hallmark’s “A Royal Christmas” and “Perfectly Prudence.” She also competed on season 9 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
As the recent fires moved close to homes in Malibu, Seymour evacuated her home. Luckily, her home was undamaged.
She told People, “We all ran out of the house in jeans, just going, ‘Okay, it’s probably all going to be gone..’ So we’re incredibly grateful.”
Seymour added she was “hugely grateful” that she and her home are safe.

— PA Entertainment (@PAshowbiz) December 14, 2024On December 17, Seymour talked with Us Weekly about the after-effects of having a close call with the recent California wildfires.
Seymour shared, “I’m very grateful, incredibly relieved.” She added, “It’s interesting, you kind of have a sort of post-traumatic numbness.”
She explained, “It’s like, ‘Did that really happen?’ And it did.”
Ultimately, Seymour’s home was not damaged by the wildfire. Several other celebrities based in Malibu, like Dick Van Dyke, Cher, and Barbra Streisand, also evacuated their homes as the fire drew near.
Despite feeling numb after getting through the worries of the wildfire, Seymour acknowledged that she was also grateful.
“Driving around Malibu and looking at all the charred remains is not fun. But really considering what could have happened, we were all very fortunate,” Seymour shared.
In the rush to evacuate, Seymour told People she grabbed a few sentimental items from her home.
“I grabbed two books that my mother had saved during World War II in a concentration camp,” she revealed.
Seymour added, “I thought if they could survive that, then they needed to survive this fire, so they came with me.”
She also scooped up some sentimental pieces of jewelry as she evacuated.
Ahead of fleeing her home, her beau John Zambetti called to urge her to leave. “He was on Serra Road, literally right out there,” Seymour told People.
“He called us immediately and said, ‘Get out now. The flames are right here.’ And we ran out,” she recalled.
Seymour shared that the flames were “right outside our house” about two hours after she evacuated.
