Jelly Roll let his emotions get the best of him when he met Taylor Swift.

The Grammy-nominated country singer, 39, detailed meeting the pop star for the first time at the 2024 Grammy Awards in his People cover story and revealed that he was nervous to tell 34-year-old Swift about how she played a role in his relationship with his 16-year-old daughter, Bailee.

"I take a ridiculous, probably abnormal, amount of pride in being from Nashville, so anytime I can link a Tennessee connect, it tickles me," Jelly said. "Taylor lived in Hendersonville for a while, and she had bought a playground. I used to push Bailee on that swingset that Taylor donated to Hendersonville. I wanted to tell her that when I met her, but I was so nervous I couldn't even remember what swingset it was."

Swift — who went to high school in Hendersonville, Tennessee — helped Little Tikes Commercial rebuild the Kids Kingdom playground at Memorial Park in 2010. The "Tortured Poets Department" singer donated $100,000 to the cause, according to a press release at the time.

He admitted that he got tongue-tied for the first time during the encounter, even though his wife, Bunnie XO, warned him it would be happening.

"My wife said, 'I think Taylor's coming over to holler at you,'" he explained. "It was like the Red Sea parted for her. I'm looking at Taylor Swift and I have a reason to explain to her why I like her so much, and I'm going, 'You built the swingset somewhere, my daughter, I pushed her on it.' I did so bad! Definitely was at a loss for words in that moment."

The podcaster, 44, previously revealed that the "I Am Not Okay" singer admired The Eras Tour performer in a social media post in February 2024.

"When your hubby gets to meet his crush finally," she wrote over a TikTok video.
