Jennifer Lopez hasn’t quit pining for Ben Affleck in the wake of the end of their two-year marriage, and a source exclusively tells In Touch she’s desperate to find out what he’s up to without her by dropping in at odd times and is still possessed by the thought of her ex.
The source says that, while “she claims to be moving on from Ben, the truth is quite the opposite. She’s still totally obsessed with him and even has Google Alerts set up for his name, which is just beyond unhealthy.”
“Any time she sees their mutual friends, she steers the conversation to Ben. She often finds excuses to swing by his house, dropping off items just to linger and see what he’s up to. And anytime she talks to Matt Damon, it’s always about Ben.”
For J. Lo, 55, her heart is still aching, telling Interview Magazine her split made it feel “like my whole f–king world exploded.” But Ben, 52, is making attempts to move on with his life after the “Let’s Get Loud” singer filed for divorce on August 18.
The Gone Girl star has been quietly reuniting with his first ex wife, Jennifer Garner, to coparent their kids. They attended an evening event together with their 15-year-old child, Fin, which J. Lo also attended alongside Emme, 16, her child with ex Marc Anthony. While those close to the stars concede that these things are bound to happen, a second source previously told In Touch that these run-ins were “awkward” for Ben, and “as far as Ben’s concerned, it’s better for them to keep separate lives as much as possible.”
A different source also confirmed that Ben is working on himself post-divorce, telling People the A-list actor is “very focused on work and his kids” and “staying busy and happy.”
While the Oscar-winning star is keeping his head on his future projects, which includes The Accountant 2, set to release in April 2025, and his next directorial endeavor, Animals, alongside best friend Matt, 54, the first insider notes that pop icon J. Lo can’t escape the thought of her ex. She’s even been shopping around for songwriters to help her craft a single after her last album, This Is Me … Now, a personal project that was heavily influenced by her relationship with Ben, debuted at a disappointing No. 38 on the Billboard Top 200.
“This whole music thing is all about Ben, too. Her songwriting sessions all revolve around their break-up and her pain,” the insider says. “She is defensive about it and says she’s just channeling her heartbreak into her work, which all artists do.”
Still, as reality sets in for the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer, the source notes that her fixation on her failed marriage is “doing nothing to help her move on.”
“As much as she talks a good game about moving forward, the truth is she’s still just as obsessed as ever. The way she’s mourning this break-up you’d think they’d been married for 20 years, not two.”
