Head to the Great White North and hang with some of your favorite queens on an international adventure on the new, six-episode Crave Original series Slaycation, premiering on WOW Presents Plus on Tuesday, December 31.
Slaycation follows six larger-than-life queens from across the international Drag Race family – BOA, Jada Shada Hudson, Kandy Muse, Kerri Colby, Lawrence Chaney, and Luxx Noir London – as they vacation together at a Canadian winter cabin. With fun activities, frivolity, and a hint of drama, their fish-out-of-water escapades culminate in a show-stopping performance for the local community.
Kandy Muse is a triple threat drag superstar from The Bronx, or as she likes to put it, from the hood to Hollywood. Her talent for telling it like it is landed her own series on WOW Presents Plus, Inside the Producers Studio with Kandy Muse, where she spills the tea on the spiciest Drag Race drama with her fellow Ru girls. She also recently competed on the E! reality show House of Villains.
Luxx Noir London made her mark on Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race as one of the fiercest fashion queens in recent herstory. She has a burgeoning music career, with her current single, “Let It All Hang Out” and an upcoming album in the works. Always on the go, Luxx has walked the Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet, spoken at the famous New School about the impact of Drag Race, and continues to push the fashion envelope forward.
How did you get involved with Slaycation?
Luxx: Well, the phone rang and I picked up and I was like yes, I would love to go on vacation so yeah, that's kind of just how it happened
Kandy: Yeah, I got a phone call. I want to say maybe like three or four months before anything was happening and they were just like, hey, we were putting together this show if you'd be interested – and obviously like anytime World of Wonder calls, I'm always going to answer and say yes. I remember being in Mexico and they were like, we, you know, we're going to go to a winter cabin. I was just like, I don't, I don't, me and Nicole, they're not really good friends, but again, I'm never going to turn down an opportunity to be on television. So, it was an automatic yes for me.
What was the experience like staying in a house with all these different personalities?
Luxx: It wasn't really a challenge for me because being on Drag Race, you're with like 14 or 15 big personalities…well, give or take a few. And you kind of know how to navigate around people with big personalities – that's just being a drag queen. That's nightlife. That's being queer. A lot of us have really big personalities. So, it wasn't really a challenge because I’ve been navigating that space and that energy for so long.
Kandy: I'm not used to being in a house with six people. I live by myself, so it was definitely interesting being in a house with five other queens. But I think, again, everyone got along really well for the most part and everyone respected each other's space. And again, our days were so jam packed that by the time the night falls, we are exhausted, so no one's kind of like bothering each other. But you know, there were times where we would get on each other's nerves, but nonetheless, it was such a fun time being in the house with the girls.
You took part in quite a few fun activities like ice skating and things like that. What was your favorite thing that you did?
Kandy: I mean, we did a lot of things. There were a lot of things that I necessarily wouldn't put myself in the position to do on a regular day. Like, you know, the snow tubing and the ax throwing, there were a lot of activities that I was just, okay, try something new – and I enjoyed it, honestly. There was one time though, we were doing, we were mixing drinks and that was fun.
Luxx: That was a lot of fun. I enjoyed most of the activities, honestly.
Who do you feel like was the best cruise director?
Kandy: The best cruise director. I would say I think I enjoyed Kerri. I remember Kerri's day being really jam packed and really fun.
Luxx: Yeah, I would say Kerri. And also, she had a lot of energy behind being the cruise director. So, I think that she did like a really great job.
You both travel the world and this is a show about vacations…where has been your favorite place to vacation?
Luxx: I haven't been on a vacation ever, I don't think. So, I think my favorite place that I've traveled for work that is not my house…I really enjoyed Spain. I went to Madrid and I really enjoyed Madrid. I also really enjoyed Sweden. Stockholm was a lot of fun. The clubs there do not close, really. Well, they do, but they're open kind of all night. And the air is really crisp and really fresh, which I like. And the fast food there is really good.
Kandy: Yeah, it's funny enough because I was going to say Spain as well. Barcelona was so beautiful and everyone there was so nice. I also really enjoy Mexico…honestly anywhere warm. I don't want to be cold You know, I was touring Europe last winter and it was so cold there. So anywhere warm, but honestly my best vacation is being warm in my beautiful home by myself.
