Katy Perry's short-lived marriage to Russell Brand ended in savage circumstances.
The US singer, now 40, and English comedian, now 48, seemed inseparable before they got engaged just four months after dating. They went on to quickly tie the knot later that year in 2010 in a Hindu ceremony in India.
However, the happy ever after moment for the pair was simply not meant to be and Russell bluntly ended things over a cold text message 14 months after exchanging their vows. It's since been claimed that after the comedian only sent a text message to the star to let her know their marriage was over, she decided to send Russell a "bitter taunt" in response.

Getty Images)Russell, who has long been an outspoken vegan, is alleged to have been sent a picture by Katy of a half-eaten McDonald's Big Mac. Speaking at the time of their split, a source claimed Katy also wrote: "Mmm tasty."
The bitter fallout that then followed was evident in a snappy message by by the Firework star in 2013. "He’s a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him,” Perry began.

Mirror Screen Grab)However, she went on to reveal to Vogue : "Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.”
Speaking about their initial connection, Katy continued: "At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, I can’t handle the equalness. He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting.
“I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me. So I have moved on from that.”
She had earlier revealed in a heartbreaking documentary in 2012 called Port of Me that she was "fighting to keep my marriage alive". the star was seen in tears after a row with her then husband, before needing to mask her emotions to complete a live gig.
The couple initially met at the VMAs in 2008. Following their split, Katy has gone on to find happiness with her fiance Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter.
