Kendrick Lamar, as those familiar with the work of Eli Russell Linnetz have already figured out, rocks a one-of-one ERL pin belt on the cover of his surprise-dropped GNX album. He also wears the piece in the recently released video for “Squabble Up,” directed by Calmatic.
Custom pin belts first made an appearance in ERL’s Spring 2022 collection. In the years since, the Los Angeles-based label has made additional pieces, albeit selectively. Each belt, notably, boasts an assortment of vintage pins and is made by hand by Linnetz in his Venice Beach workshop.
Every pin belt is unique, making each entry in the series a true one-of-one.
ERL has been a key part of Kendrick’s visual story in 2024. Earlier this year, a hoodie from the label was featured in the video for “Not Like Us,” a song now up for multiple potential Grammy wins in 2025.
In addition to encompassing numerous visual references and fan-dissected nods to late icons like Nate Dogg and Isaac Hayes, the “Squabble Up” video counted a plethora of well-curated sneaker choices among its deftly made style choices. Naturally, Complex put together a list of all of them.
