Lauren Sanchez gets emotional after answering questions related to her book; 'Sorry'

Lauren Sanchez got unexpectedly emotional while answering some fan questions. The journalist, pilot, and media personality is currently prompting her first book, the children's story "The Fly Who Flew to Space."

Yesterday, Sanchez was joined by Ashley Graham for a Q&A. One of the questions left Sanchez emotional, prompting her to think back on her times as a kid and some of the adversity she faced.

The question came towards the end of the stream, and was from a fan named Caitlin. The question asked Sanchez what she would say to her younger self.

"I would tell my younger self that you're not dumb," said Sanchez.

"It's like, you know, you're a little girl, and you're always thinking that, and you just kind of want to pick her up," she continued. "I say that's what this book was for when I was writing it, it's the 54-year-old me hugging that eight-year-old girl, saying, 'You're gonna be okay.'"

This was an emotional statement from Sanchez, who struggled in her youth due to her dyslexia, a disability that greatly impacted her performance in school until she was diagnosed.

"Sorry, a little emotional," said Sanchez with a laugh.

Sanchez and Graham opened up about their insecurities

The vulnerable moment prompted Sanchez and Graham to discuss their insecurities, including some of the issues that they are still grappling with on a daily basis.

"What I would say to my younger self is very similar in the sense of, you're not inadequate, you have the tools, just use them," said Graham.

"I think it's hard to remember those things as you have little kids, as you're growing businesses, as you're building new relationships and friendships, it's a constant. I think I still say that to myself, to be honest."

Sanchez agreed, sharing that those insecurities never disappear and that we must learn how to push them away and take risks in order to get things done.
