Logic's made good on a recent promise he made to fans.
Earlier this month, the Maryland rapper revealed he’s trying to make more music like Playboi Carti. Last week, Logic took to his Instagram to share a snippet of a new song where he does exactly that.
In the video, Logic completes a Rubik's cube with his eyes closed while wearing a shirt emblazoned with Carti's face. Logic's new song plays in the background—and, lo and behold, he sounds like a carbon copy of Carti.
"It's a fee/If you want it, can't it get for free/Awe yea, such a mystery/All that sh*t you talking ain't mixing me," Logic raps in the clip. He ends the video by saying "Opium," the name of Carti's record label.
Earlier this month, when approached by TMZ, the rapper explained that his brand of music hasn't been benefitting his bottom line.
"I’ve been on a run of doing super hip-hop music, but that stuff doesn’t pay the bills,” he said.
Logic went on to explain that his new sound would mimic one of the biggest rappers alive.
“I made my money doing pop and turn-up tracks, and I’ve been lucky to make music from my heart," he explained. "But next year, I’m about to drop all this Carti-style trap and have some fun. It’s okay to make money, too."
The 34-year-old’s latest project, Ultra 85, features guest appearances from Adé, DJ Drama, Robert Ivory, Lucy Rose, T Man the Wizard, and Zelooperz. The album debuted at No. 45 on the Billboard 200 chart.
