Mariah the Scientist was more than ready to see her man yesterday.
On Thursday, Oct. 31, news broke that Young Thug was coming home after being incarcerated for over two years in his long and arduous YSL RICO trial, which lasted about a year.
“This shit is so fucking unbelievable,” she said during her performance on Thursday night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. “Let’s just make it to the end so I can get on this jet,” she added, which made the audience roar with applause.
The 27-year-old also took to her Instagram Story to write, “Thank you God,” followed by a slew of exclamation points.
Thugger was released from custody on Thursday after pleading guilty to six of eight charges in the RICO trial. He pleaded no contest to the racketeering conspiracy charge and to one count of leading a street gang.
After entering his plea deal, he received a 40-year sentence. He was sentenced to five years in prison commuted to time served, 15 years on probation, and a "backloaded” 20-year sentence, which he would only serve if he violates his probation. Young Thug had been incarcerated since May 2022, with the YSL trial becoming the longest-running criminal trial in Georgia.
Mariah and Thugger were first romantically linked in November 2021, and the pair has been going strong throughout his incarceration. In early October, she revealed that she was unable to visit him on their third anniversary because the prison’s system was down. Thug tried to make up for it by wearing a black hoodie to court that read “I [heart] Mariah” in late October.
