Glynis Johns, renowned for her role as Mrs. Banks in Disney's 1964 classic Mary Poppins, led a colourful love life, marrying several times and outliving all her husbands. The celebrated actress died in January at the age of 100.

Over her eight-decade career in film, she delivered notable performances in Hostile Hostages, Miranda, and The Court Jester, and earned a Tony Award for her work in theatre.

Beyond her professional achievements, Johns led a vibrant personal life, marked by numerous affair accusations and failed marriages. She tied the knot four times, outliving each of her husbands.

Her first marriage was to Anthony Forwood in 1942, whom she met while rehearsing for Quiet Wedding. The pair welcomed a son, Gareth Forwood, born on October 14, 1945, in Marylebone, London. However, the marriage ended in divorce three years after their son's birth, with adultery cited as the reason for the breakdown.

Johns' search for love did not end with her first marriage. She became involved with her Encore co-star Antony Darnborough in 1951, and he proposed at the Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire.

Despite their engagement, the relationship ultimately fell through. Johns then married David Foster, a Royal Navy officer, in Manhattan, New York, in 1952. This marriage too ended in divorce in 1956. Her third husband was businessman Cecil Henderson, who claimed their marriage ended due to the star's infidelity.

Her final marriage was to United States Air Force captain and writer, Elliott Arnold, in 1964 in Los Angeles. The couple divorced in 1973.

Reflecting on the possibility of marrying again, she once told The Sun: "I'd tread very softly in that area. Very softly. I certainly wouldn't rush into anything again, and I'd have to have an awful lot in common with anyone I'd consider marrying next time."

Johns outlived all four of her husbands and her only son, Gareth, who died from a heart attack on October 16, 2007. Today, her closest living relative is her grandson, Thomas Forwood, 48, born to Gareth and French mother Veronique Lecoq on March 25, 1974, in Wimbledon.

Raised largely by Johns, Thomas followed in the creative footsteps, becoming a writer and film director. His works include films such as Simon, Alvinnn!!! And the Chipmunks, and Le Moment Venu.

Discussing his famous grandmother with the Daily Express, Thomas said: "My grandmother had the most incredible career over many decades and produced this vast body of work. There's so much of it. I've only seen a fraction of it myself. But I'm immensely proud of her. It was strange growing up and saying to my friends, 'Oh my grandma was in Batman.' Or seeing her in 'Mary Poppins.'"
