Charlotte Hornets star point guard LaMelo Ball is one of the league's more electrifying and exciting players today.
Ball has been the face of the Hornets since entering the league in 2020, but five years into the league, they have yet to help him reach new heights as a team. Ball's time in Charlotte could be running out, which is why they could seriously consider trading him sooner rather than later.
Ball is a spectacular player, and any team that is a contender or needs help getting over the hump could use a player like Ball.
The Hornets could put the 23-year-old on the trading block, and if that's the case, many teams should be interested in the Southern California native.
This trade proposal has the Hornets send Ball to the Houston Rockets to help put them in serious contention for the title this season.
Rockets receive: LaMelo Ball
Hornets receive: Dillon Brooks, Amen Thompson, Ja'Sean Tate, and a 2025 first-round pick
The Rockets lose three key pieces to their squad but only lose one first-round pick, as they would still hold a plethora of picks in their back pocket.
Ball is an ideal scoring point guard and one of the best at it. He's playing out of his mind, averaging 30.2 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists while shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three in 19 games.
Injuries have hampered his career a bit, but there is no doubting his talents, especially on the offensive end. Ball is a flashy playmaker with a deep shooting range and an innate basketball IQ. He is fun and exciting to watch, which would fit the other pieces in Houston.
Although Houston has a good thing going on and loses a defensive piece in Brooks in this scenario, it's clear the Rockets are a piece or two away from truly competing right away. Ball could be that piece to turn the Rockets from pretenders to contenders.
The Hornets have been at the bottom of the totem pole for the past handful of years. Charlotte has failed to reach the playoffs and often finishes with the league's worst record.
The Hornets' front office and coaching staff have faced criticism for their inability to make meaningful strides toward building a competitive team. From questionable draft decisions to a lack of stability in the coaching ranks, the organization has often appeared disorganized and reactive rather than proactive.
This type of trade will force them to start over with their latest lottery pick, Brandon Miller, to move them into the next chapter without Ball on their side.
