Matthew Livelsberger said in a note that the Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside a hotel owned by President-elect Donald Trump was done as a "wakeup call" for the country's ills, investigators said on Friday.
Livelsberger, 37, fatally shot himself inside the Cybertruck which erupted in flames outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year's Day. Clark County sheriff's officials said they do not believe Livelsberger committed the act due to any negative feelings toward Trump.
"This was not a terrorist attack, it was a wakeup call. Americans only pay attention to spectacles and violence. What better way to get my point across than a stunt with fireworks and explosives," Livelsberger wrote in a letter found by authorities, who released excerpts from it on Friday.
