Mick Jagger has paid tribute to his ex-partner and 60s singer Marianne Faithfull who has died.
The sad news about the singer was announced on Thursday (January 30) as her family confirmed she passed away peacefully at her home beside them age 78.
The couple dated in their 20s when he had a much different lifestyle to what he has now. A spokesperson shared: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the singer, songwriter and actress Marianne Faithfull.
"Marianne passed away peacefully in London today, in the company of her loving family. She will be dearly missed."
Mick dated Marianne from 1966 to 1970 in what was a very high profile relationship. In 1968, Marianne delivered their daughter Corinna who was a stillborn at several months.
A few hours after the sad news of her death had gone public, Mick wrote a statement online: "I am so saddened to hear of the death of Marianne Faithfull. She was so much part of my life for so long. She was a wonderful friend, a beautiful singer and a great actress. She will always be remembered.”
In a 2021 interview with Rolling Stone, Marianne claimed the relationship almost "destroyed" her but dubbed it as a "wonderful time" with a "great" man.
After her romance with the rock n roll icon ended, Marianne fell into heroin addiction issues and became herself homeless for a stint, before making a comeback in 1979 with a new album titled Broken English.
However, the 60s songstress was best known for her hit As Tears Go By, which she released when she was just 17.
Marianne had been married three and divorced times to the following spouses; Jon Dunbar (1965-1966), Ben Brierly (1979-1986) and Giorgio Della Terza (1988-1991). She is surviced by her son, Nicholas Dunbar, who she shared with her first husband.
