Nicole Scherzinger‘s recent social media activity has sparked curiosity about her political leanings, particularly regarding Donald Trump. The buzz began after she commented on a post by Russell Brand.
As the dust settled on Tuesday night's polls, Trump emerged victorious in the presidential race. This came after a surprising turn of events when Kamala Harris stepped in for President Joe Biden, who bowed out just months before Election Day.
With Trump gearing up for another White House stint, celebrities are chiming in with their thoughts on social media.
Brand, the British funnyman, seemed to show his Trump support on November 6. He posted an Instagram photo holding a cap that mimicked Trump's iconic “Make America Great Again” hats. But Brand's version read, “Make Jesus First Again.”
The post also included a screenshot of Brand's X (formerly Twitter) message saying, “God Bless America.” It's worth noting that Brand announced his baptism into Christianity in April. This revelation came amid a police investigation into allegations of rape and sexual assault, which Brand has denied.
Scherzinger responded to Brand's “Make Jesus First Again” post, asking: “Where do I get this hat!!!?” She added praying hands and red heart emojis.
Apparently, Scherzinger's comment vanished within a day, following negative reactions from Instagram users. But the internet never forgets – a screenshot of her comment found its way to X.
Adam Feldman, Time Out New York's theater editor and critic, shared the screenshot on X, quipping: “Well the Best Actress Tony race just got a little less competitive.” He added, “It's hard to think of a worse look for a Broadway leading lady than appearing to simultaneously support Donald Trump, Christian hegemony and Russell Brand.”
Another user chimed in: “How to lose a Tony in under 30 characters,” likely referring to Scherzinger's praised performance in Broadway's Sunset Blvd. revival, for which she bagged a Laurence Olivier Award in London.
It's worth noting that Scherzinger hasn't publicly backed any candidate in the recent presidential race.
Some folks are looking at her comment differently. One X user wondered: “Is it possible she's just a Jesus believer? Really hoping that's the case.”
Feldman responded: “If so, she picked an extremely unfortunate way to express that.”
In a heartfelt chat with The Guardian back in 2019, Nicole Scherzinger opened up about her roots. Born in Hawaii but raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she shared how Catholicism shaped her early years. The paper noted she still made time for church, either in person or online, at least twice a week.
“I was very conservative. I had really strong religious beliefs. I just wanted to make my mother proud,” Scherzinger confessed.
She candidly discussed the inner struggle she faced when joining the Pussycat Dolls, known for their revealing outfits. “It was a massive hump for me to get over,” she admitted, reflecting on her journey to embrace her role as a performer.
Scherzinger's career has been a colorful tapestry. She first tasted success with Eden's Crush, a group born from the reality show Popstars. Later, she soared with the Pussycat Dolls and judged both U.S. and U.K. versions of The X Factor. As a solo artist, she's released two albums. These days, you can catch her sharing her expertise on Fox's The Masked Singer.
