Pamela Anderson has revealed the moment she decided to ditch makeup for good.

If there's any look synonymous with the nineties, it's Pamela Anderson.

Following her time as a Playboy centerfold to her roles in Baywatch, Barb Wire and Borat, the actor's blonde hair, thin black eyebrows and smokey eye makeup have become iconic in their own right.

However, Anderson, 57, has now entered 'the next chapter' of her life - which means leaving her famous look behind.

Talking about her decision to distance herself from her sex symbol persona, the star has said she thinks 'being a woman in your 50s is inspiring', adding: "I've got off the rollercoaster of emotions over the past few decades. I barely even remember them, but here I am, and with all this experience."

Plus, she says she's enjoying the 'process of getting older', telling The New York Times earlier this year: “The things that are happening to my face — a little elasticity is leaving — I’m finding humor in that. I feel sexier now that I have some secrets and some mystery.

"We don’t learn that until later in our lives.”

Her latest project is The Last Showgirl, which is directed by Gia Coppola, and stars Anderson as a 'seasoned showgirl' who must start to plan her future following the abrupt closure of her show.

And in a new interview with Variety for 'Actors on Actors', she sat down with Anora star Mikey Madison and discussed their current films.

When Anderson was asked when she read the script for The Last Showgirl, she said that she'd went back home to 'remember who I was' after getting fed up of 'playing all these characters in my personal life'.

She continued: “I was in my garden at home on Vancouver Island, making pickles. I just love my garden. I’m obsessed.

“That’s when I started taking the makeup off and getting my hands dirty. I didn’t really have representation at the time, but Gia tried to find me the through an old agent, and he passed on the movie.

“Gia didn’t take no for an answer; she found my son Brandon, and Brandon brought me the script, and I read it on my little vegetable farm. I knew the whole movie like a play before I got to Las Vegas.”

Anderson has been praised for her makeup looks on the red carpet, and while some hope to achieve a more youthful apperance, she has previously commented on why she thinks this is a pointless endeavor.

In an interview with PEOPLE last year, she said: "Chasing youth is futile. All we can do is embrace who we are at the moment we are in, and be okay with where our feet stand right now.

"I can just be me. It's very freeing to be comfortable in your own skin.”

Her decision to go makeup-free was also influenced by the passing of her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, who died from breast cancer in 2019.

Anderson said: "She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup,"
