Potential Red Sox Trade Makes Even More Sense After Blake Snell Signs With Dodgers

2 hours ago 5

The Boston Red Sox were left to watch in horror as one of their top free agent targets, Blake Snell, signed a five-year, $182 million deal with the powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers.

Rather than sit around and complain about how it's not fair, the Red Sox are going to continue to look for their ace this winter. The rumors that continue to emerge indicate that Boston is looking for a left-handed pitcher, like Snell.

While Boston has been connected to Atlanta Braves starter Max Fried as well, there's another southpaw starter that could make sense for Boston: Chicago White Sox lefty Garrett Crochet.

Boston continues to be connected to a blockbuster trade that would send Crochet to Fenway Park, but some of the trade proposals are completely outlandish.

Still, there's a way for Boston to acquire the White Sox ace without losing any of its top five prospects. The Red Sox have quite a loaded farm system, which makes them the ideal team for Chicago to want to trade with.

But it's highly doubtful Boston is willing to part with Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Kyle Teel, Braden Montgomery, or Kristian Campbell. That doesn't mean Boston doesn't have the talent to deal, though.

Rumors have indicated that every other prospect is available for trade, while big league players Triston Casas and Wilyer Abreu have been floated in rumors.

Boston could very easily put together a package of one big leaguer and two or three talented minor leaguers, without touching its top five, and acquire Crochet, as long as the White Sox aren't being too stingy about it.
