Ripen hard avocados in ‘less than 3 minutes’ with clever tip - makes them ‘soft and tasty’ (Image: Getty)
Avocados are a must-have fruit for so many people, perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Whether it's avocado on toast or guacamole, this fruit needs to be ripe to make these popular dishes.
The issue is that they’re often as hard as a rock when you purchase them from the supermarket, even if they're labelled as “ripe and ready”.
Naturally, you can let an avocado ripen over time, but this can take a while.
To hasten the process, TikToker @vicky.motherhood has shared a video claiming to ripen an avocado in “less than three minutes”.
Vicky began the video by showing viewers a hard avocado and proceeded to hit it against the counter to show how solid it was.
She then showed an after picture of the avocado demonstrating how soft the inside is.
For this hack, you need to start by grabbing a tall glass or a deep bowl and your underripe avocado. Put the avocado inside and pour hot water in.

Next, you just want to wait two to three minutes with the avocado fully submerged in the water before draining.
Then cut and pearl the avocado as usual and it will be “perfectly soft, tasty and ready to eat”.
Taking to the comments section, Vicky wrote: “Just you try it. You will be shocked.”
If you’ve got an avocado that's just right in terms of ripeness, but you're not prepared to use it yet, pop it into the fridge.
The chilly environment of the fridge will enable you to keep your avocados fresh for a couple more days.
If you’ve already sliced into the avocado, stop it from going brown by leaving the pit in, giving it a squeeze of lemon juice, and wrapping it up in cling film.
