Ryan Tubridy has revealed that he hasn't watched the Late Late Show since he moved to London.

The broadcaster left the RTE talk show back in May 2023, after hosting it for around 14 years.

Since his departure from the programme, he has also left RTE Radio 1 and moved to the UK to present on Virgin Radio.

Patrick Kielty succeeded him as the presenter of the Late Late Show, but Ryan has admitted he doesn't tune in now to watch the Co. Down native host the programme.

“I haven’t seen The Late Late Show since I moved away, and there’s no badness in it, it’s just because I don’t have the [RTÉ] Player in London,” he said.

“Also, on Friday night I’m normally out and about, or else I travel home to Ireland every two or three weeks.

“I loved presenting it, and I wish everyone well at it. I just need to do other things. I’m embedded in the UK now, so I need to focus on that."

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Ryan said that he has no regrets about leaving the Late Late Show : “Not for one minute. I just needed to decompress from it."

He also said that he believes Patrick was the correct choice to replace him.

“I think he’s great. I think he has the chops,” said Ryan.

“When I said I wanted to leave in March [last year] and they had a few months to pick [someone], he was very close to the top of my list, and by all accounts he’s doing grand. So good on him – I wish him well.”

It was a big overhaul for Ryan in January of this year, when he moved to a new country to take on a new job, but he has been loving it.

“I’m having a wonderful time. I’m having whole new experiences. It’s been like a renaissance,” he said. “Little did I know at the age of 50 I’d be living in another city and meeting new people and experiencing a whole other world, so I love it.

“As a history buff and a books nerd, I’m surrounded by beautiful bookshops, museums and libraries, so I’m having an adventure.”
