Vanderpump Rules viewers all remember that day in July 2022 when Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval pulled up in their matching outfits for the Grand Opening of their new bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s. Sandoval was driving a motorcycle, while Schwartz was, appropriately enough, strapped into the sidecar.
Everyone was excited and business was good … until March 2023 when news of Scandoval hit the press. Sandy pretty much blew up his life, his business and his dreams of being a rock star when he chose to have a fling with his longtime girlfriend’s close friend, Rachel Leviss. None of the attempts to reboot and rebrand the bar were successful.
Now, a year and a half after Scandoval went nuclear, Schwartz & Sandy’s is finally crumbling under the impact of the blast. The bar will close at the end of this year. And so ends an era. The dream is over.
It’s the last hurrah for Schwartz & Sandy’s, as the owners prepare to close
Tom Schwartz posted the sad news on Instagram, including a carousel of photos from better times at the bar. “There’s no easy way to say this,” he wrote, “but after careful consideration, Greg, Tom and I made the decision to close Schwartz & Sandy’s by the end of the year.”
After making a bid for holiday party bookings, Tom added, “Let’s end this era on a high note … Come on by, bring your friends … Let’s manifest together a kick ass New Year.”
Schwartz went on to say, “There’s some peace in knowing I gave my absolute all into S&S … To all the patrons who came in & supported us, showed me love every single night I was in there, you kept me going through some of the harder times … [It] has been a true honor.”
Among the photos included in the carousel is a clip from the series finale of Cheers. As star Ted Danson, portraying bar owner Sam Malone, takes a final look around his shuttered bar, he chuckles to himself, “Well, I’ll tell ya. I’m the luckiest son of a bitch on Earth.”
All episodes of Vanderpump Rules are currently streaming on Peacock.
