Shoppers have been divided over Coca-Cola's returning drink flavour, coming back to supermarkets in time for Christmas. In a bid to get into the festive spirit, the brand has revived its controversial flavour - cinnamon.
One Tesco shopper shared a picture of the drink on a shelf from their local store in the Extreme Bargains and Couponing Facebook group. They had spotted the bottles on sale for £1.85 (or £1.25 for Clubcard holders).
Many people find the smell of cinnamon a heartwarming reminder of Christmas. But adding it to cola seems to have been a step too far for some.
In the comment section, one said: “No, just no!" Another added: “I can't think of anything worse!" A third asked: “Who even buys this?"
But, not everyone was so quick to throw this beverage on their naughty list this Christmas. In fact, some were more than happy to give it a go.
Someone said: “Maybe it’s one of those odd combos you don’t know works till you try it. I like both separate so wouldn’t mind trying.”
Another added: “I do like the cinnamon-flavoured cola, although I think it only comes out around this time of year.” A third put forward a suggestion, writing: "Love it. Goes great with Amaretto!"
The controversial drink first hit shelves in 2019 and again in 2020. But after that, the limited-time beverage wasn't seen again.
Soft drink giant Coca-Cola confirmed the return this Christmas, adding that the drink would be on shelves until "the end of the year". The £1.85 bottles will be sold exclusively at Tesco stores nationwide, with fans being urged to stock up.
This is another one of those festive products that has clear lovers and haters. Asda recently divided the nation with its Roast Potato Mayo that some claim was a step too far by the supermarket.
