Sky News anchor Kay Burley has taken up an unusual hobby in her day-to-day life - and it's incredibly dangerous.
Kay Burley shares breaking news on population projections
Sky News presenter Kay Burley was warned “you could have died” as she took a major risk.
The TV star took up mountain climbing as a hobby in 2019, admitting that she decided to scale Ben Nevis despite a crippling fear of heights.
Kay – who is scared of taking the lift to the top of Blackpool Tower – managed the feat despite once “opening the curtains of a hotel room on the 82nd floor in Singapore to be greeted by the sheer drop below” which caused her to “collapse in a heap”.
Opening up to The Telegraph about her feats, Kay explained she conquered the Three Peaks Challenge, as well as summiting the Breithorn in the Alps.
But it wasn’t without warning that she headed out. While friends thought she’d gone mad, one of her tour guides reminded her she had to be tethered to him at all times due to a horrific case prior.

Kay wrote in her column: “You have to be roped to your mountain buddy or face the prospect of an unpleasant end.
“I initially hated being tethered until my guide Andy, from Jagged Globe, told me of a tourist who unclipped his skis to walk a couple of feet away for a discreet pee. His body was recovered from a deep crevasse some days later.”

Kay confessed her “low point” came when a younger climber in the Alps “skipped past” her, chirping: “Nearly there, old lady, well done!”
She confessed: “I was too exhausted to react except with a watery smile.”
