Sting has admitted that whatever Sean 'Diddy' Combs stands accused of it won't effect his song the rapper sampled.
Diddy famously won his first ever Grammy Award for his track I'll Be Missing You which paid tribute to late friend The Notorious B.I.G. after he was gunned down and killed. The emotional single sampled The Police's hit Every Breath You Take which was already massively popular with music fans following its release in 1983.
Diddy went on to sample the track for the 1998 single which was a huge commercial hit globally. Now sting has admitted nothing has tainted the song for him after Diddy was arrested and charged for a string of serious offences.
Talking in a new interview Sting told the Los Angeles Times : "I don’t know what went on [with Diddy] ... But it doesn’t taint the song at all for me. It’s still my song." Diddy's version was written by Sauce Money and after topping the Billboard charts for 11 weeks consecutively he won the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group Grammy alongside Faith Evans who also featured on the track.

Diddy, 55, was arrested in New York in September on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Diddy has vehemently denied all allegations against him and pleaded not guilty in court. As he awaits federal trial, the Bad Boy records founder has also been hit with several civil lawsuits filed by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee. The civil lawsuits include allegations of rape, sexual abuse and sexual assault, all of which Diddy has strongly denied.
Now former Playboy Bunny Precious Muir, who attended Diddy's parties in the early 2000s, has suggested celebrities won't want to be associated with him amid the ongoing scandal.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror US, Precious said: "Knowing who attended these parties, they probably are concerned about their careers. What effects will it have directly on their careers now? And you just don't wanna be linked to Diddy. Even the people in his inner circle are kind of shifting and spreading."
No other celebrities have been accused of any wrongdoing in the lawsuits filed against Diddy, or as part of the federal charges against him. Precious also did not accuse anyone of any wrongdoings.
Her comments come after a federal judge denied Combs' request for a gag order to be implemented in his sex trafficking case on Friday. The order, which was requested by the musician's attorneys would have prevented potential witnesses and their attorneys from speaking publicly about the allegations against Diddy.
Judge Arun Subramanian said he is trying to balance an alleged victim's right to free speech with Combs' right to a fair trial. "Not all alleged victims will be participants in this case, and a blanket restriction on their speech will silence individuals who may never have anything to do with the proceedings here. And in any event, less restrictive alternatives must be considered and rejected before imposing a restraint on speech," Judge Subramanian wrote in the order, which has been obtained by The Mirror US.
The order continued: "The sheer reach of Combs’s requested order would also necessarily impact the numerous ongoing civil cases involving Combs." The gag order request was also described as "incredibly broad."
