"Dancing is a bit like acting, we are telling a story every night on Saturday night and I think we are doing a pretty good job on that. It's better to have chemistry, it's better than way than the other."

"He really wants to learn even though we have times where we can't stop laughing. We don't think about who is our competition we just think about ourselves, just me and Pete, our biggest competition is what we can achieve better next week.

"I'm working really hard with him to make him as comfortable as possible just to show people that he can actually dance. He still doesn't fully believe it but he is proving it every week on Saturday nights. "

Daily Star also spoke to former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips at the awards who shared her thoughts on this year's show. She revealed: "I'm always asked who I think should win at an early stage and you never know because it can be the worst dancer and the public just falls in love with that person.

"Then it can be the best couple you've ever seen but that doesn't mean they're gonna win. It's about connecting with the viewers. It's about that little bit of magic that makes the audience fall in love with you."
