The first full Superman trailer will be here Thursday, but to tide us over for a bit, Warner Bros. released a short teaser which itself is now the first footage we’ve seen from the movie.

Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olson, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and many more. It’s coming this summer and now, here’s your first official look at footage from Superman.

It’s short, but sweet, as we get to see the world–from Lois and the rest of the Daily Planet staff–to the citizens of Metropolis look to the skies as, presumably for one of the first times, they see Superman take flight.

And though the trailer tease doesn’t give us a ton of information, io9 was on the set of the film over the summer and recently reported some great nuggets. Like, for example, why this version of Superman is wearing trunks over his suit. Or how powerful Lex Luthor is in the movie. What the music is going to be like, etc. You can read about all that and more here.

Plus, it’s important to remember that this is the big coming-out party for DC Studios as a whole. Yes, Creature Commandos is out now too and that takes place in this world. But Gunn and co-president of DC Studios Peter Safran have much more in store. Superman will lead into a Supergirl movie, out in 2026. We now know a Clayface movie is coming in 2027. A Green Lantern TV show, Lanterns, is in the works, and films centered on Batman, Wonder Woman, and many more are in development. Superman is a big deal for a lot of reasons and now, you’ve seen the first footage from it.

The film opens July 11, 2025; check back Thursday for the full trailer.
