In the episode “Help Me! I’m a People Pleaser,” Tamron digs into the heart of the issue with the help of psychiatrist Dr. Sue Varma, who returns to offer tips on recognizing people-pleasing behaviors in your own life. Tamron also opens up about a personal story as well.
Tamron recalls a time when her people-pleasing tendencies almost led her to marry the wrong men. She had been proposed to quite a few times. Dr. Sue Varma explains why so many of us fall into the trap of trying to please others, even at the expense of our own happiness. Tamron shared that she was proposed to four times by men she knew weren’t right for her. And honestly, I can relate. I’ve been there too. When you’re caught off guard in the moment, it’s hard to just say “no,” especially when you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
Just last year, I almost said yes to a marriage that didn’t feel right, but thankfully, therapy helped me find my voice. I finally made the decision to call off my wedding. It’s all about learning to set boundaries, even if it might upset others. I’m still working on me, but it feels empowering to stand up for myself and make decisions that align with my true desires. I’m with her it’s a game-changer when you finally put yourself first.
