A former lead from “The Bachelorette” and her husband shared a major family update via social media with Bachelor Nation rallying to support them. Ali Fedotowsky and her husband, Kevin Manno, posted the news via Instagram.
Kevin Manno Has Papillary Thyroid Cancer
On January 26, Fedotowsky shared a video and lengthy caption on her Instagram page. She titled it “Manno Family Update.”
In the caption, Fedotowsky explained, “We found out recently that @kevinmanno has Papillary Thyroid Cancer. Thankfully it’s a very treatable cancer. He has 2 malignant spots on his right side and it appears it is also in one lymph node, but we won’t know for sure until his surgery.”
She asked that any of her followers who have experience with thyroid cancer share their experiences with her. “We are specifically curious about stories related to whether or not you or someone you know had their full thyroid or half of it removed with the cancer only on one side. If the surgeon gets in there and determines the whole thing has to be removed regardless, we will of course move forward with that. But going into the surgery, he has a choice to be aggressive or leave half if possible.”
Fedotowsky also wrote, “Thank you all for the love and support you’ve always shown us. We are grateful. ❤️”
He Is Maintaining a Positive Outlook Ahead of His February 10 Surgery
In the video, Manno explained that they were sharing this news in large part because they try to always be transparent with their supporters. He insisted he’s “not stressing” about the diagnosis, and the couple noted that his cancer is typically very treatable.
Manno is slated to have surgery on February 10. He shared, “We’re going to knock it out and it’ll be behind us.”
Fedotowsky admitted sometimes she thinks he’s “too positive” about the situation. He explained that’s how he needs to be about the situation and acknowledged he’s supposed to avoid stress.
“It’s taking a minute for us to wrap our brains around,” Fedotowsky admitted. The cancer was also found in a lymph node, and they are unsure at this point whether the surgeon will remove half or all of Manno’s thyroid.
She asked people to share their stories in her comment section. However, she noted that Manno would not be reading any of it. Fedotowsky wants input from people, whereas he knows it would overwhelm and stress him out to read.
In response to the news, “The Bachelorette” star Trista Sutter commented, “Wrapping you and your fam in a hug. Prayers up.”
A supporter wrote, “I can’t imagine what you are [going] through. Any diagnosis of cancer is scary….period. We are praying for you Kevin!”
Someone else’s comment read, “Sending love and good vibes ❤️ YOU GOT THIS KEVIN! 💪🏼”
