Dry skin is unavoidable in cold weather and can seem impossible to resolve without calling upon a cocktail of skincare ingredients.

Staple bathroom cupboard items like Vaseline and Sudocreme are the first point of call for many winter skin woes, but a new holy-grail product could replace a lineup of remedies.

Though not new to the market, the Snowfire Emmolient Stick has returned 85 years since its launch. The ointment stick has resurged in Boots stores nationwide for good reason.

Available at Boots for a modest £7.99, this compact wonder has become a must-have in my skincare routine. And it warranted impressive results for its skin-soothing effects on my eczema-prone, sensitive skin.

Snowfire has crafted a multipurpose balm that treats dryness on virtually any part of your body. Its price is so affordable that it's hard not to buy several at once.

From the delicate skin around your nostrils, which takes a beating when battling the common cold, to the hands and even those tricky spots like elbows, this emollient stick delivers relief with ease.

Its stick applicator ensures you can target specific areas without the mess, making it perfect for on-the-go applications. One of the standout features of the Snow Emollient Stick (18g) is its suitability for sensitive skin.

The stick is easy to apply anywhere, any time. The vegan and cruelty-free formula contains skin-conditioning astringent benzoin gum (Siam resin extract), as well as natural essential oils-stimulating clove, restoring juniper, rejuvenating citronella, and skin-protecting thyme-leaving skin feeling soft, smooth, and supple.

How to use the Snowfire Emollient Stick

Since getting my hands on this skincare hero, I haven't let it leave my pocket. Perfect for quick and hygienic application on the go (there's no need to scoop it up with your finger), the Snowfire formula has softened dry, sore skin between fingers and the crease of elbows.

They're two places constantly sore in the cooler months, as other contact dermatitis and eczema sufferers would know. The results surprised me, considering that the Snowfire Stick is fragranced, but it got my approval for sensitive skin.

That said, it's always important to patch-test the formula on your skin before using it properly and read the ingredients to check for anything you may be allergic or sensitive to.

This emollient can be dabbed on dry patches almost anywhere, making it suitable for sensitive complexions. I've even used it to soothe dry and itchy mosquito bites, which proved effective.

The long-lasting product has a lovely, balmy texture despite being sold as a solid stick. A little goes a long way in a single application, which is impressive considering the £7.99 price tag.

It's become popular among shoppers, with a 4.6-star rating online at Boots. Shoppers say it's "a great product for sore skin" and "suitable for all hands."
