With the first ever final of The Golden Bachelorette just around the corner, it is more clear than ever that Chock Chapple has won the heart of this season’s lead, Joan Vassos. However, he is having a hard time convincing fans of The Golden Bachelorette that he deserves the final rose.

Chock is hoping to become the first winner of The Golden Bachelorette and is going head-to-head with fellow contestant Guy Gansert. However, it’s looking like some fans would rather Joan end up alone after she narrowed her choices down to, in their eyes, two terrible options.
After news broke that Guy’s ex-wife filed for a temporary protective order against him in 2021, most viewers could agree that Joan deserves better. But, not everyone thinks Chock is the best option.
Here are a list of moments from the show that fans are calling Chock’s biggest red flags!

The Bowling Date
One of the turning points in the season that made fans rethink how they felt about Chock was Week 5’s bowling date where he made his feelings for Joan clear… a little too clear.
While on a group date with the other men, Chock was seen cozying up to Joan and asking her intimate questions while the rest of the group was within earshot.
He asked: “Which side of the bed?” and “Can I just take you home?”
“Chock has given me the ick since early on… His behavior at the bowling alley was especially off-putting,” wrote on X user.
“Chock was my pick but the way he hovered over Joan at the bowling alley put me off,” said another.

Tensions With the Other Men
The bowling date was the first sign we had of possible tensions between Joan’s suitors, several of whom were frustrated by Chock’s actions during the evening.
Several of the men expressed frustration that Chock was “glued to” Joan during the game and “didn’t give anyone the chance to get to know her.”
Jonathan said that he sensed “competition in the air.” Guy also seemed disappointed to see Chock stealing Joan away but Chock remained unbothered.
“I’m crazy about her and I want to be with her every moment. I don’t care what they’re thinking or doing. I’m just worried about Joan and myself,” he told cameras.

Pascal’s Response to Chock
No one was more bothered by Chock’s bowling date than Pascal and his scathing critique of Chock in an interview with Glamour definitely made fans question the Kansas-native.
“Chock was all over her to the point where he was [like a] stalker. I mean, it was like, ‘I love you, let’s leave. Let’s do this, let’s do that.’ And, ‘Which side of the bed are you sleeping on?’ It’s bizarre behavior,” he said. “I don’t know. ‘I can’t wait to be with you. I feel my love with you.’ Maybe in Wichita there is no women. I don’t know.”
His statement have some fans wondering if Pascal has seen a dark side to the seemingly kind, gentle Chock.

His Post-Fantasy Suite Interview
Joan made it very clear that she would not be getting intimate with any of the men during her Fantasy Suites date so fans were definitely taken by surprise when Chock kind of hinted that something might have happened between the two.
“I’m tired, but I’ve just got a smile on my face. What a great evening. We had champagne, we had a big comfy couch, and I had Joan there,” Chock explained.
“What did we do? That’s between Joan and myself. If she wants to talk about it, she can, but, my lips are sealed. And that’s the beauty of the Fantasy Suites, is just between two adults, but we had a great time. It was everything I expected and more.” Umm… what did he mean by that?
“The way Chock tried to make it sound like they did it,” wrote one fan on X.
Decider even criticized Chock for giving “Zach Shallcross vibes,” referring to a contestant on The Bachelorette season 19 who got backlash for his rocky overnight date with Rachel Recchia.

Is Chock the Best of a Bad Batch?
Still though, with all the drama that has rocked Joan’s season, Chock is definitely not a bad choice.
Sure, fans were likely rooting for Charles L. or one of the other men who are now favourites to become the next Golden Bachelor. But given what we know about Guy’s contentious divorce with his ex-wife and Pascal’s candid admission about not being in love with Joan, Chock isn’t so bad!
As one fan put it: “I’m sorry but if you don’t like Chock, you’re the problem. He’s honest, direct, and smitten with her. Y’all need to quit falling for the playboys like Pascal.”
