The Grammy moment that's been 'many, many years' in the making for Beyoncé

She has 32 Grammys to her name, but Beyoncé has never won Album of the Year – until now.

The singer has finally taken home the coveted title at the 2025 Grammy Awards, thanks to her country record Cowboy Carter.

It was a star-stacked category, with fierce competition from the likes of Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and Billie Eilish.

The Texas Hold 'Em singer brought a special guest on stage as she accepted the award – daughter Blue Ivy.

Clearly emotional about the historic win, she told the crowd, "I just feel very full and very honoured. It's been many, many years."

"I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer."

It's rare to see Beyoncé these days without Blue Ivy, and vice versa.

The 13-year-old star of Mufasa posed with her mother on the red carpet at the film's premiere, and then just weeks later performed alongside the superstar during Netflix's NFL halftime show on Christmas Day.

So it was fitting she took the stage with Beyoncé to accept the biggest award of the night.

She stood with her hands clutched as her mother accepted the award before hugging her onstage during the emotional culmination of Beyoncé's storied Grammys career.

The win isn't just an historic one for the singer on a personal level. 

She's also the first Black woman to win album of the year in 26 years, since Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Cowboy Carter is the first country album to take the top award since Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour in 2019.

The 11 nominations for Cowboy Carter tied Michael Jackson's Thriller for the most for a single album.

Awards ceremony appearance whipping fans into a frenzy

Earlier in the night, she became the first Black woman to win a Grammy for Best Country Album.

She also took won Best Country Duo/Group performance for II Most Wanted with Miley Cyrus during the Grammys pre-show.
